The Qingdao Municipal Public Security Bureau is stepping up efforts to keep the festivities safe as the scent of beer fills the summer air. With the 36th Qingdao International Beer Festival now underway, the municipal public security authority have rolled out a series of proactive measures to safeguard food safety for residents and visitors to enhance Qingdao's image as a leading cultural and tourism destination.

Throughout the festival, Qingdao Public Security Bureau’s environmental, food and drug crime investigation units have intensified inspections at the festival's main venue, popular tourist attractions, night markets and barbecue districts with officers scrutinizing the sources of alcoholic beverages, the quality of food ingredients and the verification of purchase records to identify and eliminate potential food safety risks at their source. Working closely with market regulation authorities, its officers have also carried out joint inspections and strengthened cooperation on product sampling, risk monitoring and emergency response for the purpose of enabling the early detection of potential hazards so that they could be dealt with promptly.

The Bureau have also stepped up enforcement against illegal activities that infringe on consumer rights and disrupt market order, particularly the sale of counterfeit branded beer. Acting on investigative leads, officers have carried out targeted crackdowns, seized batches of counterfeit alcoholic products and traced production and distribution networks to dismantle supply chains to help ensure a fair and safe marketplace while protecting the legitimate rights and interests of consumers and private businesses.

The Qingdao Municipal Public Security Bureau affirmed its continued endeavor to strengthen prevention and enforcement efforts throughout the festival and maintain a safe consumer and business environment through rigorous and law-based policing. Their goal is to ensure that food safety remains one of the defining features of summer in China's beer capital.
