The annual container throughput of the Multimodal Transport Center in the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA) has exceeded 300,000 TEUs, up 29.02% year on year, marking a new step forward in the Demonstration Area's multimodal transport system and the development of its open logistics hub, according to the SCODA's administrative committee.

Container throughput is a key indicator of a logistics hub's cargo-handling capacity and China–Europe freight train services have continued to expand rapidly as a vital gateway linking SCO member states to the Asia-Pacific market. The SCODA operated 1,126 China–Europe freight trains in the first 11 months of this year, up 17.2% year on year, transporting 92,310 TEUs, also an increase of 17.2%.

To further improve collection and distribution efficiency and service capacity at the Multimodal Transport Center, the SCODA's partnership with Qingdao Customs, China Railway Intermodal's Qingdao Center Station, and Qingdao Port culminates in the introduction of the SCO Express Clearance supervision model—a program to expand bonded logistics and fast-clearance services that extends the functions of the Qingdao Qianwan Port sea terminal to the multimodal center to allow cargo inspection and quarantine to be completed on site. This has reduced port dwell time by 35% and improved customs clearance efficiency by 60%. The center will also begin construction of a 25,000-square-meter smart container yard in 2025, which will further strengthen operational support capacity once completed.

The SCODA has opened 32 international and domestic rail routes to date, reaching 54 cities in 23 countries across the SCO and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) network, and forming an international logistics corridor linking Japan and the Republic of Korea to the east, Europe and Eurasia to the west, Mongolia and Russia to the north, and ASEAN to the south. Cumulative China–Europe freight train services have exceeded 5,100 trips, with regular specialty trains for home appliances, tires, commercial vehicles, and grain. Customized supply-chain trains have also been launched for private companies including Haier, Hisense, Linglong Group, and Chery, serving more than 7,000 foreign trade enterprises and providing strong support for the stability and security of international industrial and supply chains. The SCODA is also accelerating the development of the Qingdao hub of the Shandong China–Europe Freight Train (Jinan–Qingdao) National Assembly Center, with regular warehousing operations now in place for Russian pulp, Central Asian grain, and Southeast Asian rubber.
