The Phase II site of the Qingdao Rongde Airline Catering food production facility project in the Pingdu zone of the Qingdao Jiaodong Airport Economic Demonstration Zone remains a hive of activity in the depths of winter as workers carry out final finishing work.

The Qingdao Rongde Airline Catering food production facility project spans 87 mu (approximately 14 acres) with a total floor area of 62,000 square metres. It will include two production workshops and a comprehensive building to focus on the R&D and production of FD freeze-dried foods, airline catering meals, and premium infant and children’s food products. Phase I began operations in September 2025 and Phase II, now under construction, will be covering more than 20,000 square metres and is scheduled for completion in March this year. The main workshop structures are largely finished, with remaining works such as ground hardening to be carried out in stages.

As a key project of Qingdao city, the facility is expected to produce 70,000 tonnes of premium food products annually once fully operational with an estimated annual output value of 700 million yuan and tax revenue of 37 million yuan. It is also set to boost nearby crop cultivation and food processing to help drive the region’s food industry toward higher quality and greater international reach.
